Wow! I’ve had some strange experiences with Linux in my almost 4 months of using it, but nothing compares to this Klango experience! Here’s what has started going on.

Wow! I’ve had some strange experiences with Linux in my almost 4 months of using it, but nothing compares to this Klango experience! Here’s what has started going on.
With both Vinux 2.1 and Vinux 3.0, Klango has been laggy on this computer when I would use it under Wine, which is a Windows program loader. It’s not so laggy I can’t hardly use it, but I just have to type slower. With the regular Ubuntu, I did not have this issue. Anyway, here’s the really strange topic of this post.
I was going to leave a comment on the post I created in here about truly recommended free web hosting, and when I pressed Enter on it, it brought up a fatal error, and when I would press Alt + F4 to close the dialog, it would bring up an error Orca would read to me that said something like, “Warning: Fatal Error is not responding.” Of course, it would say I could wait for the program to close, and I would go to the Force Quit button and the dialog would close. Feel free to comment on this post if you are a Linux user who has had this same issue. What would only take maybe about a minute or so to complete has probably taken me about 10 or 15 minutes to do with this thing being so slow. Anyway, I look forward to your comments here.

This is just a review of the Linux distributions I’ve tried since I first left Windows and switched to Linux. In this review, I’ll try and give my thoughts on all of the ones I’ve tried.
I think I’ll start with one of my least favorites first.
OpenSuse was good, but at the same time, I had some experiences when my internet would automatically disconnect after a few minutes, even when I was downloading a large file. The accessibility in OpenSuse 11.0 was good when it was enabled, except for the fact that you had to run the admin applications as the root user. By the way, if you are using the Klango application to read this post, if your speech synthesizer doesn’t pronounce this right, it’s supposed to be pronounced Open Suse, or at least I think, but the speech synthesizers like to pronounce this wrong, I’ve noticed. Lol. Anyway, that was just a funny thought I just had there. Anyway, on with the review.
Tying for last place for me was Fedora. I barely tried this one, so there’s not really a lot I can add about it here within this post.
Next, I had tried Vinux 2.0, 2.1, and 3.0. I have only good things to say about this one here, but I think the next three words I have to say about it say it all. It, just, works!
Debian Squeeze was good, for the most part, but there’s not really a lot I can say about it except for the fact that it has great potential for a blind person.
Nothing can really top my most favorite Linux distribution!
Ubuntu 10.04 is awesome! It’s got really good accessibility features and everything! Aside from some issues I had with it, (which are fixed), it just works all around! By the way, did you know I’m editing this post with Klango running on Ubuntu 10.04 right now? I’ve probably said this in one or two other posts, but anyway, feel free to comment here and tell me some of your favorite Linux distributions.

I didn’t want to put this in a thread on the forums I felt was closed a long time ago, so I thought I would update you now.
For those of you who don’t know, the site is now back at
http://www.brandyssoftware.tk
and there is a lot of new stuff going on there. You can now register for an account, but there is a captcha on the registration form. All of the captchas you’ll find there are text-based, to make it a lot easier for a blind person to register on the site. Since I have added this to the site, I haven’t had any spam submissions. If there are any typing errors in this post when it’s published, I’m sorry about that. I’ve got the typing echo turned off within Klango so Sapi doesn’t go slowing it down, since I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Open-Sapi installed. I am using a program called Wine, which is a Windows program loader for Linux. Anyway, don’t be shy, and feel free to stop by the site! I don’t have a lot of our files up there yet, but I’m working on it.
